Super excited to unveil The Art of Pho – a brand-new interactive motion comic about Little Blue and his friends. In Ho Chi Minh City, Little Blue learns to master the Art of making Pho – Vietnam‘s ubiquitous noodle soup. The adventures that ensue set him on a marvelous path of self-discovery. Based on the graphic novel by Julian Hanshaw, The Art of Pho is a moving story about friendship, love and discovering your roots, set against the backdrop of Vietnam’s bustling capital. Submarine Channel re-created The Art of Pho for the web, adding the dimensions of music, voice acting, hand-drawn animation and interactivity to Hanshaw’s exquisitely drawn artwork.
We did a little “making of” The Art of Pho motion comic, ft. interviews with creator Julian Hanshaw and animation director Lois van Baarle, who explains how she tackled the project. The trailer and "making of" are both embeddable.
We recently did a big feature about the making of Copelia – an almost hallucinogenic indie sci-fi movie created by title designer Nic Benns @Momoco. Benns shares his amazing artwork and much more. And “French Fridays” updates with the frolicky titles of Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (1967) by Jean Fouchet. |
"Hot off the press" is an understatement. The brand-new promo "Elephants" by singer-songwriter Blaudzun is an immaculately-styled mini-movie, made by Mirka Duijn & Nina Spiering, whose promo "Do Better" for Bart Constant (also on 2Pause) got a lot of web play last year. Supported by Tax Music Video Fund, and produced by Yellow Submarine!
Been on the road a lot in 2011 to shoot new profiles. Latest additions include interviews with Buck's creative dir. Orion Tate, (shot at Playgrounds Vs Submarine Channel) + media artist Scott Snibbe creator of Bjork's Biophilia apps (shot at Picnic) + game entrepeneur extraordinaire Jeff Hull + title designers Momoco.
Submarine LA, aka SubLA has been working in super stealth mode for the last few months of 2011 on the personalized trailer for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The rotoscope animated FaceBook viral looks amazing. "Here is your mission, should you choose to accept it:" |
